ATTN: Lee NCAE Members

President’s Thoughts:

P-R-I-M-A-R-Y - that word will be on our tongues for years to come.  Who would have ever thought the Democratic nominee would still not be determined by May 12th?!?!?

There has been some shifting of Super Delegates this weekend and those in the media as well as our own John Edwards speculate that Obama will be the nominee.  Another question rising out of the mist is that Hilary could be, maybe, needs to be his Vice Presidential running mate.

Record numbers of voters and people registering to vote for the first time have the pendulum swinging away from apathy about voting to the reality that your vote really does matter.  Only time will tell and let's hope this is a sign to us about our involvement in what takes place in our nation, North Carolina, and Lee County.

Thanks for getting out to vote.  Our voices will make a difference!

SIGNATURES NEEDED:

Your building representative has a petition which is asking members of the North Carolina General Assembly to end the “fee” that is charged to teachers and media specialists when they elect to use one of their personal leave days.

We fought long and hard for this last year and were not successful.  It would cost the state about $12 million dollars for individuals to take up to 2 days of paid personal leave per year, but not everyone would use the 2 days and some may have no need at all.

This petition is underway all across North Carolina and we can’t let time run out in Lee County.  We want all employee signatures by this Friday, May 16th from Members AND Non-Members!!!

I will present these to our State Representative, Jimmy Love, and he will be glad to take them to Raleigh.  He supports this bill and is willing to see it through.

Give us that signature – it can make a difference!
